PONIATOWA
Memorial of The Nazis victims murdered in Poniatowa in 1941-1944
This monument, modest in its form, is located on Przemyslowa Street in front of the former office building of the Electromechanical Company EDA, formerly known as the Installation Equipment Manufacturing Company. Its main element is a simple concrete slab that was placed here on a brick foundation probably in 1959. The content of the engraved inscription pays tribute to the victims of the German labour camp on behalf of the residents of the entire Lublin region, completing the commemoration, which was cared for by the residents of Poniatowa and the surrounding area, as well as the plant's crew. At the time of the memorial's founding, when the Holocaust was officially kept quiet, the general term "victims of Nazism" referred to more than 30,000 lives and the memory of all those who died a cruel death there.
After many years, a metal cross was placed near the monument. In this case, it is interesting to enrich the iconography of the traditional tools of agony (Arma Christi) with broken fragments of concentric circles of halo made of barbed wire, which significantly updates the character of this place with reference to the suffering of the Crucified.
